The project is to build a shed-style roof over the hot tub to protect it from the hot summer sun. The client wants it to blend with the house so we are going to use some shingles that are left over from when he had the house roof re-done recently.
This is a bigger project than what I usually do, so I'm pretty excited to do something different.
This is the hot tub as it exists in the 'before' state. One of the problems is that it gets too dang hot in the Texas summers.
When I use the power auger for the footings, I'll need to be careful of the electrical here at the corner.
Not much room between the tub and the house. The client has a three year warranty on the tub (two years remaining), so we **cannot** move the tub to dig footings.
Showing the narrow space between the tub and the house. The client suggested that we protect the screens and windows with plywood to avoid accidental damage.
This is an AI generated rendering of what it might look like. We are going to do a shed-style roof (a single pitch) rather than a peaked roof.
During a phone call, the client let me know we **CANNOT** move the tub, so the footing has to fit here. We have to be careful of the sprinkler head as well.
Sketchup model of the "as-is" tub and surroundings, as I start getting ready to design the new structure.
